First-Time Brazilian Wax: What to Expect

If you’re considering your first Brazilian wax, it’s completely normal to feel a little unsure. Questions, nerves and uncertainty are all part of the process — and that’s exactly why this guide exists.

At Strip Bare, we believe informed clients feel more comfortable, more confident and have better results. This post explains what a Brazilian wax involves, how to prepare, and what to expect during and after your appointment.

No horror stories. No myths. Just clear, professional guidance.

What Is a Brazilian Wax?

A Brazilian wax removes hair from the entire intimate area, including the front, labia and between the cheeks. Some clients choose to leave a small amount of hair at the front — this is discussed during your consultation and tailored to your preference.

If you’re unsure what’s right for you, we’ll guide you.

Is a Brazilian Wax Painful?

Sensitivity varies from person to person. For most first-time clients, the sensation is brief and manageable. Our therapists work efficiently and professionally, using techniques designed to minimise discomfort while achieving thorough results.

Many clients are surprised by how quickly the appointment passes.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Hair length matters — but don’t overthink it

For waxing to be effective, hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grip. If you’re unsure whether your hair is the right length, we’ll advise you during your consultation. Avoid shaving before your appointment, as this disrupts the hair growth cycle.

Exfoliate gently

About 24 hours before your appointment, gently exfoliate the area using a washcloth or mild exfoliator. This helps remove dead skin and allows hair to release more easily.

Avoid UV exposure

Sunbeds or heavy sun exposure can thin the skin and increase sensitivity. Avoid UV exposure for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Freshen up beforehand

Wipes are provided in the treatment room for your comfort. Using them helps ensure a clean, professional start to your service.

Wear loose clothing

After your wax, loose-fitting clothing helps reduce friction and allows the skin to settle comfortably.

What Happens During the Appointment?

Your appointment begins with a brief consultation to discuss preferences, concerns and any relevant skin considerations.

You’ll be guided into a comfortable position, and your therapist will work methodically through the area. Communication is encouraged — if you need a pause or have questions, just say.

Professionalism, discretion and respect are non-negotiable at Strip Bare.

Aftercare: What to Know

Proper aftercare helps protect your skin and maintain results.

• Avoid heat, friction and exercise for 24 hours

• Avoid swimming, saunas and steam rooms for 24–48 hours

• Wear breathable clothing

• Begin gentle exfoliation a few days after your wax (as advised)

Mild redness is normal and usually settles quickly.

How Often Should You Wax?

For best results, most clients return every 4–6 weeks. Consistent waxing often leads to finer regrowth and more comfortable appointments over time.

Final Thoughts

A Brazilian wax is a personal choice, and your comfort always comes first. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, our role is to provide expert care in a calm, respectful environment.

If you’re still unsure, that’s okay. Questions are always welcome.
