Can You Get Waxed on Your Period? Everything You Need to Know

One of the questions we get asked all the time is:

"Can I still come for my wax if I'm on my period?"

The answer is yes.

Being on your period isn't a reason to cancel your appointment, and it's something we deal with regularly. There's absolutely nothing to feel embarrassed about.

There are just a few things worth knowing before you come in.

Will it hurt more?

It might.

Around your period, hormonal changes can make your skin more sensitive, so you may find waxing feels a little more uncomfortable than usual.

That said, everyone's different. Some clients notice a difference, while others don't notice any change at all.

Do I need to tell you I'm on my period?

Yes, if you're comfortable doing so.

It's not because it changes the treatment—it's simply helpful for us to know so we can make sure you're as comfortable as possible throughout your appointment.

Trust us, it's nothing we haven't heard before.

Can I still have an intimate wax?

Absolutely.

We simply ask that you wear a fresh tampon, menstrual cup or menstrual disc during your appointment.

If you only use sanitary pads, we'd recommend booking your intimate wax for another day, as we won't be able to carry out the treatment hygienically.

Don't worry if you get caught out

We know periods don't always arrive when they're supposed to.

That's why we have a toilet available with complimentary sanitary products if you need them, along with individually wrapped intimate wipes in every treatment room.

If you need a few minutes before your appointment, just let us know.

Should I reschedule my appointment?

Probably not.

For most people, there's no need to rearrange your appointment just because you're on your period.

If you're feeling well enough and you're happy to wear a fresh tampon, menstrual cup or menstrual disc for intimate waxing, you're absolutely fine to come in.

The only time we'd suggest rescheduling is if you're experiencing severe cramps, very heavy bleeding or you're simply not feeling well enough to come along..

Don't forget your aftercare

Whether you're on your period or not, good aftercare helps your skin recover.

Follow the aftercare advice we've given you, avoid anything that could irritate freshly waxed skin, and keep your skin clean and well moisturised.

Final thoughts

Getting waxed while you're on your period is completely normal, and most of our clients simply keep their appointment as planned.

There's nothing to feel awkward about, and we'll do everything we can to make you feel comfortable.

Please don't cancel your appointment because you're worried we'll judge you—we won't. Periods are completely normal, and this is a conversation we have every week.

If you've got any questions before your appointment, just ask. Chances are, you're not the first person to wonder, and we'll always give you an honest answer.
